Newsweek quotes Loren Locke about expats rating the United States poorly
"The restrictive immigration policies introduced under the Trump administration, especially those reinstated and intensified in 2025, have created a pervasive sense of uncertainty and insecurity among expats," Loren Locke, managing immigration attorney at Locke Immigration Law, told Newsweek. "This has directly impacted their perception of political stability and personal safety in the U.S., as many feel targeted by both policy and rhetoric."
"The sharp rise in negative perceptions of political stability and personal safety among expats is closely linked to the increasingly hostile political rhetoric and restrictive immigration policies that have become prominent under the current administration," she said. "This environment fosters uncertainty and a diminished sense of belonging for many foreign nationals."
